As part of the Workshop's activities, the technical committee invites interested people to take part in a comparative exercise to assess the stability of two slopes in sensitive clays, one in Quebec, the other in Norway. The aim of this exercise is to provide an overview of the various approaches used by engineers in different countries when assessing stability conditions at a site with slopes in sensitive clay soils, potentially exposed to highly retrogressive landslides. Using a common data, the results of this exercise will make it possible to quantify and assess the variability of the various responses obtained from participants using similar or different approaches.
The participants in the exercise will receive a certificate equivalent to 14 hours of training.
The documents required for this exercise are now available. Please click on the link below.
Potential participants are asked to produce their study and provide their results by February 28th, 2025. The technical committee will compile the results received and conduct a comparative analysis. The results of this exercise will be presented and discussed at a special session during the workshop.
The technical committee undertakes to keep strictly confidential all opinions submitted to them as part of the exercise, and not to disclose them to third parties. Furthermore, all information will be anonymized during the special session and in the exercise report. Only the participant's region of origin and the type of organization they work for (public sector, parapublic sector, large private company, small consulting firm, institute, academic organization, etc.) will be considered in the comparative analysis.
The greater the number of participants, the more interesting the results of this comparative exercise will be. The technical committee therefore invites delegates to register in large numbers for this activity!
